Spring in Val Gardena: nature, hiking, biking and culture

Awaken your senses in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Dolomites, where you can enjoy blooming landscapes, outdoor adventures, family holidays and Ladin traditions.

Hiking

As spring arrives in Val Gardena, the gentle alpine meadows and blossoming slopes come to life. Beneath the snow-capped peaks, clearly marked trails such as the Vallunga circular route and the paths in the Puez-Odle Nature Park wind their way through vibrant displays of crocuses and yellow primroses. The fresh mountain breeze and birdsong accompany you to rustic alpine huts, where regional delicacies await. Experience nature at its most vibrant: an unforgettable journey full of contrasts.

Biking

At the start of the warm season, the trails in Val Gardena burst into bloom, inviting bikers to ride across gently rolling alpine meadows and sun-kissed ridges. From the flowing tracks on Monte Pana to the challenging berms on Ciampinoi and the legendary Sellaronda loop over the Gardena and Campolongo passes, there are trails to suit every skill level. Speed through fragrant spruce forests, pedal up to panoramic viewpoints and carve out new single trails. Spring mountain biking rewards you with breathtaking views and pure biking pleasure with every pedal stroke.

Culture

Spring is the perfect time to discover the cultural treasures of Val Gardena. At the Gherdëina Museum in Ortisei, you can admire Ladin wooden sculptures and archaeological artefacts. Every Friday, the weekly market tempts visitors with regional organic produce such as cheese, honey and freshly baked farmhouse bread. A trip to Bolzano will take you to the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology, home to Ötzi the Iceman. Open-air concerts and rotating art installations in the village centre will bring traditions to life and complete your spring programme.
